Icarus maintains strict data segregation to protect your privacy when using AI-powered features:

Google Authentication Data (Never shared with AI services):

• Your Google account information (email, profile data) is used ONLY for authentication and user identification
• This data is stored securely in Icarus and NEVER sent to OpenAI or other third-party AI services
• Your email address and profile information remain private and confidential

AI Features (Study Material Analysis & Study Buddy):

Only the following user-provided data is sent to OpenAI for AI-powered study assistance:

• Study materials you explicitly upload (PDFs, documents)
• Quiz questions and practice problems you create
• Chat messages you type in the Study Buddy feature
• Course and topic information you input
• Your learning preferences (difficulty level, question count, etc.)

What is NEVER sent to AI services:

• Your email address or Google account ID
• Your personal profile information or name
• Your authentication credentials or tokens
• Any Google-provided data or metadata
• Payment information or subscription details

Your Control: You have complete control over what data is shared with AI services. All AI features require explicit user action (uploading materials, typing messages, clicking generate). No automatic data transmission occurs.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. However, we may share your information in the following circumstances:

• AI Service Providers: We share study content with OpenAI and other AI providers to generate study guides and provide tutoring services
• Infrastructure Providers: We use Supabase for database hosting, Vercel for web hosting, and cloud storage providers for your study materials
• Payment Processors: We share payment information with Stripe and other secure payment providers to process subscriptions
• Analytics Services: We may share aggregated, anonymized usage data with analytics providers to improve our services
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information when required by law or in response to valid legal requests

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through the app settings or by contacting us. We will comply with applicable legal requirements regarding data retention and deletion.
